JOJOBA OIL is a mixture of liquid wax esters formed by monounsaturated linear fatty acids and alcohols. This component, like all waxes, is resistant to oxidation, has high temperature stability, which allows it to be used as a natural preservative, preventing the “burning” and oxidation of the cosmetic composition. At the same time, jojoba oil has many physical and chemical properties that allow it to be classified as a lipid. In terms of their composition, the essential waxes of jojoba are similar to the wax that is part of sebum. On the one hand, mixing with sebum, jojoba oil forms a semi-permeable lipid layer on the surface of the skin, effectively protects and moisturizes it. On the other hand, due to the presence of unsaturated fatty acids in its composition, jojoba oil easily penetrates the lipid barrier, carrying along biologically active components dissolved in it.
SHEA BUTTER OIL – It is a complex of triglycerides formed by fatty acids – oleic, stearic, palmitic – and non-soap fats represented by carotenoids, triterpene compounds, phytosterols, tocopherols. Thanks to this composition, Shea butter has an intensive protective effect. Fatty acids protect the skin from dehydration, softening it and restoring the lipid barrier. Carotenoids have excellent antioxidant properties, protect organic molecules from oxidative damage, and participate in the stabilization of cell membranes. Carotenoids have linked double bonds, thanks to which they block the formation of free radicals by binding singlet oxygen molecules. Carotenoids contribute to the synthesis of vitamin A (retinol), which, together with vitamins E and C, activates the inclusion of selenium in glutathione peroxidase to protect cells from oxidative damage. Triterpene compounds together with oxycinnamic acids significantly weaken the effect of UV radiation in the range of 250-300 nm. The triterpenes of shea butter effectively block the activity of MMP-3, preventing collagen remodeling.
